The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug, your doctor prescribed it, and the glossy advertising shows smiling, healthy patients. So it must be safe, right? But several drugs have been withdrawn from the market in recent years because of serious and sometimes fatal side effects. How can this happen? Madigan is here to explain what goes on.

Bio
David Madigan is an expert on all things statistics-related. He has published over 140 articles in areas such as Bayesian statistics, text mining, Monte Carlo methods, pharmacovigilance and probabilistic graphical models. He has previously worked for AT&T Inc., Soliloquy Inc., the University of Washington, Rutgers University, and SkillSoft, Inc. In addition to his professional expertise, Madigan is also an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He recently completed a term as Editor-in-Chief of Statistical Science and is the current editor of Statistical Analysis and Data Mining.
